The Rye Y is a nonprofit, charitable organization. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, in 2017 we were able to provide:

• Nearly $418,000 in financial assistance to families and individuals who needed a helping hand.

• Safety Around Water workshops to 1,200 students at three elementary schools, free of charge, as part of our drowning prevention program.

• Free pool time, lifeguards and meeting space every week for the Rye Association for the Handicapped so those with disabilities can get vital exercise.

• LIVESTRONG at the YMCA free of charge, so cancer survivors can reclaim their total health in this 12-week small group program.

Your gift has the power to change lives, lift up those in need, and give hope where hope is needed most.

Why I Give

My husband and I have been members of the Y for 28 years. When we first moved to Rye from Manhattan, and saw the facade of the little house that was the Rye Y, we just laughed and said "What have we done?"

Obviously in the last 28 years things have changed.  The Y has expanded and has incredible facilities, but the fact that it looked like a home has taken on more meaning for me in the years that I've been associated with the Y, as a member, a donor and now as an instructor.

Because the wonderful thing about the Y is that it is so much more than just a gym or a place to workout.  It really is more like a home...where people can find friendship, have their spirits lifted, and know they can be supported in so many ways.
